A Novel Anchor-Free Localization Method Using Cross-Technology Communication for Wireless Sensor Network

In recent years, wireless sensor networks have been used in a wide range of indoor localization-based applications. Although promising, the existing works are dependent on large number anchor nodes to achieve localization, which brings issues increasing cost and additional maintenance. Inspired by cross-technology communication, an emerging technique that enables direct communication among heterogeneous devices, we propose anchor-free distributed method, leverages installed Wi-Fi APs instead traditional nodes. More specifically, for asymmetric coverage ZigBee nodes, first design progressive where unknown node estimates its location based two sink node, then once achieving position, it acts as alternative next hop node. This process is repeated until new members can obtain their positions. Second, low-power technology, signal may be submerged strong such Wi-Fi. To overcome this problem, maximum prime deployed broadcasting period numerical analysis theory. Among many numbers, opportunity select appropriate one full with relatively small packet collisions. Last, simulations experiments performed evaluate proposal.
